A sequence about household and the acceptance of loss by photographer and designer Jon Testa. Testa is predicated in Burlington, Vermont. Favouring each the documentary and narrative elements of pictures, his work ranges from suburban landscapes to environmental portraiture, typically specializing in uncared for constructions and well-lived in areas, and the connection folks need to them. “Wading” captures the bookends of Testa’s dad and mom’ lives following the sudden passing of his mom within the fall of 2017 and his father in the summertime of 2025. The mission is a private train in accepting loss and processing one’s altering perspective on “dwelling”:
“After my father’s passing, I found a multi-decade archive of his negatives. I sequenced these images to grasp my dad and mom higher and assemble a portrait of their lives within the absence of firsthand tales. By pairing them with my very own work, I intention to showcase how a house can change each bodily and emotionally, and to animate the stagnant feeling when one accomplice passes earlier than the opposite.”
