A six-piece collection by Chinese language-Canadian artist Reena Wu. Based mostly in Queens, New York, Wu acquired her MFA in Illustration from the Faculty of Visible Arts and is a licensed tattoo artist. Her drawings usually mix on a regular basis scenes with somewhat little bit of surrealism. “So that is love” is about going through disagreeable realities in an unhealthy relationship. Particularly, how straightforward it’s to disregard or overlook apparent truths, and the sinking feeling of lastly seeing issues clearly.
“The collection is an exploration of that rigidity that happens when there’s a disconnect between what appears like two components of your self (i.e. the idealist and the realist). As such, doubles, shadow selves, and both the tipping level, or the aftermath of a fall repeat all through the gathering. The surreal imagery of the collection is used to amplify these uncomfortable emotions.”
