A challenge supposed to convey consolation and pleasure to these feeling pissed off, anxious, or helpless by NYC/Shanghai-based illustrator Handowin He. “Off Work On a regular basis” is a music and artwork collaboration with He’s pal, DJ Shun. It consists of eight digital albums representing the seven days of the week plus one “bonus” day. Every illustration explores the fusion of two parallel worlds—the background capturing actual Japanese landscapes, whereas the framed panels reveal fleeting, dreamlike moments linked to these locations.
“Refined visible cues bridge these two dimensions, creating a way of concord between actuality and creativeness. Drawing inspiration from my reminiscences of touring in Japan, the collection evokes nostalgia and serenity and goals to remind viewers to search out small moments of happiness via the soothing mix of artwork and music.”
