Madonna and Charli XCX are heading to “Danceteria Afterhours” on their first collaborative monitor, the newest in a string of addenda to the queen of pop’s Confessions II. The rework of that album’s “Danceteria” is co-produced by Andrew Watt, Cirkut, Stuart Value, and Madonna herself. Test it out beneath.
“Danceteria Afterhours,” dropping simply days earlier than Madonna’s return to the VMAs, is her second union in as many months, after she enlisted Kylie Minogue for August’s “Love Sensation (Afterhours Combine).” The collaboration follows an obvious side-eye from Madge to Charli, when she wrote on social media in Might, “In case your Dance ground feels lifeless, perhaps you’re taking part in the unsuitable music.” On her Music, Style, Movie single “Rock Music,” Charli XCX sings the much-quoted line, “I believe the dancefloor is lifeless/So now we’re making rock music.”
