In 2019, Jason Williamson of Sleaford Mods initiated beef with fellow UK rockers IDLES by saying “they had been appropriating, to a sure diploma, a working class voice.” Joe Talbot responded shortly after, questioning, “What the fuck is mistaken with the man?” Now, the bands have made amends.
Talbot invited Williamson onto his Oh Gatekeeper podcast and launched him by quipping that he was “on a Zoom with my arch-nemesis,” to which Williamson replied, “Properly fuck you for inviting me on.”
For the hour-long episode, the pair mentioned their inspirations, struggles, and even their working-class roots.
