Heavens to Betsy, the punk duo of Corin Tucker and Tracy Sawyer whose 1994 cut up led to the formation of Sleater-Kinney, will tour this fall for the primary time because the breakup. After launching the reunion with a shock present in Portland, Oregon, final evening, Tucker and Sawyer have lined up an itinerary that features reveals at New York’s Bowery Ballroom and Chicago’s Empty Bottle. Fashioned within the early Nineteen Nineties in Olympia, Washington, Heavens to Betsy was the primary band of Tucker and Sawyer, who had grown up as college pals in Eugene, Oregon. They went on to launch three singles and a sole album, for Kill Rock Stars: 1994’s Calculated. In a retrospective interview with Bandcamp’s Mariana Timony in 2018, Tucker stated of the duo’s legacy, “I’m so happy with us for doing it, trying again. I feel that I’m actually proud to be part of girls who do communicate out and do attempt to change issues. I’ve a 10-year-old daughter now and I take a look at the world that she’s rising up into and I fear about her and I hope towards hope that issues are completely different for her. And that if I’ve achieved something with my musical profession, if I’ve added my voice to folks attempting to make issues higher for girls, then that’s an enormous accomplishment.”
