Kilian Eng is a Swedish graphics artist primarily based in Stockholm, born in 1982. He’s broadly thought to be the pure inheritor to Moebius’s throne of retro-futurist sci-fi illustration.
Eng graduated from Konstfack, Stockholm’s College of Arts, Craft & Design, in 2010 with a bachelor’s and grasp’s in Graphic Design and Illustration, and commenced his business profession doing document covers for digital music acts. His signature model blends wealthy, saturated coloration with a surrealist sci-fi sensibility, emphasizing environments, structure, and geometry over characters — mirrored palaces at twilight, infinite skylines, and tropical planets coated in alien forests. Critics constantly be aware his work is “concurrently dreamlike and rooted in bodily realism,” drawing on influences like Syd Mead, Moebius, Maxfield Parrish, and François Schuiten.
