A private undertaking about self-acceptance and rebirth by London-based graphic designer Kübra Çetin. Identified for creating emotionally pushed work by typography and storytelling, “A Dinner With Myself” is a 200-page hand-bound ebook, that grew out of Çetin’s intimate reflections on life and identification. It was solely after shifting to London that Çetin lastly felt she had phrases for the emotions she couldn’t see whereas residing in Turkey—being caught between East and West:
“The ebook opens with a diptych of two dealing with self-portraits, each of me screaming, that’s what it felt wish to struggle with myself each time I appeared in a mirror, studying to just accept who I used to be. It closes with a rebirth diptych: one web page of me giving start to myself, the opposite curled in a foetal place, studying the way to love the particular person I’d simply delivered. I shot and art-directed each picture myself. The ebook is hand-bound, with a letterpress hardcover and uncovered thread binding, symbolising construction and vulnerability, printed on 150gsm uncoated paper.”
