A choice of work by Rotterdam-based illustrator Julija Panova. Of Lithuanian-Russian heritage, Panova’s work is knowledgeable by that layered cultural inheritance as rising up between cultures has formed her sensitivity to shifting narratives. Her work explores folklore, quiet, and pictures that really feel suspended between previous and current. Panova holds a Grasp’s diploma from the Royal Academy of Artwork (KABK) in The Hague and has a background in e book design and printmaking. She works primarily in digital media, recreating the tactile, atmospheric qualities of graphite and conventional printmaking by means of gradual, intricate hatching and delicate tonal gradients.
Julija Panova participated in our 2025 Booooooom Illustration Awards and made our longlist (view all of the artists on the longlist).
