A collection of work by artist Mila Useche. Born in Bogotá, Colombia, and at the moment based mostly in Ehime, Japan, Useche accomplished her BFA at Berliner Technische Kunsthochshule in Berlin, Germany. Her work is a mix of pop-inspired visuals, private tales, Catholic iconography, animated cartoons, and pre-Colombian mythologies. She additionally explores themes of id, collective nostalgia, and private mythologies. Useche’s strategy entails channeling the intuitive power of her youthful self. On this method, her work is the results of competing variations of herself in dialog. What emerges is one thing akin to self-portraits or “aura-selfies”:
