A collection of work from Vancouver-based artist Russna Kaur (beforehand featured right here). Kaur accomplished her BA on the College of Waterloo and MFA at Emily Carr College of Artwork + Design. Her upcoming exhibition with the Artwork Gallery of Burlington presents new works rooted in private historical past, whereas charting new territory.
“Been there twice, haven’t received there but (the house behind a skinny display screen, and prying eyes)” creates an atmosphere that disrupts, reframes, and reorients. Kaur engages in a playful interrogation of fabric with wooden panels, mesh, canvas, and steel all layered and clamped collectively—revealing, in a way, the “scaffolding” of the work. Her work are additionally saturated with private references and reminiscences: the saris from her mom’s Indian bridal boutique and the patterns of rangolis. Color right here is not only about magnificence; it’s about deception—concealing the ache and disorientation of advanced cultural negotiations.
“Been there twice, haven’t received there but (the house behind a skinny display screen, and prying eyes)” shall be on show within the Lee-Chin Household Gallery beginning September twentieth and can run till January 4th, 2026.
