Marking the 400-year anniversary of King James’s demise, this exhibition charts his exceptional reign via tales of friendship, household, feuds and ambition.
Drawing on themes with up to date relevance together with nationwide identification, queer historical past, perception and spirituality, The World of King James VI and I is an enriching journey via the complicated lifetime of a King who modified the form of the UK. Over 100 objects are on show, together with ornate work, dazzling jewels, lavish designs and essential loans from galleries throughout the UK, celebrating craft and visible artwork from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
