
Kenyan photographer Thandiwe Muriu is popping heads and bending actuality. Her vibrant portraits mix ladies seamlessly into richly patterned materials, creating hypnotic optical illusions that remember African id whereas questioning how we see magnificence, tradition and self-expression. Now, Muriu returns to Paris for her third solo exhibition, “Clouds Carry Blessings”, at 193 Gallery. For the primary time, she’s created her personal tie-dye materials, calling nature her “uninvited co-creator”.
