This week I discuss with Katherine Rollwagen, creator of The Scramble for the Teenage Greenback: Creating the Youth Market in Mid-Century Canada. We talk about the creation of the ‘traditional’ teenager, how advertising and marketing shifted to draw younger individuals, and the way a lot household issues formed commercials. We additionally chat about Eaton’s, the way it attracted youngsters to the shop, and the legacy of mid-century advertising and marketing in the present day.
