New York Metropolis mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, who decisively beat again unbiased candidate Andrew Cuomo within the election to steer town earlier this month, has named an arts and tradition transition committee. The 28-member group contains curators, artwork sellers, journalists, and humanities and nonprofit directors. It ranges from Elizabeth Alexander, the president of the Mellon Basis, which sits on an endowment of $7.7 billion, to Hannah Traore, who launched a 3,000-square-foot gallery on the Decrease East Aspect not 4 years in the past.
Acquainted names on the committee embody Kimberly Drew, curatorial director at international megagallery Tempo; Ruba Katrib, chief curator and director of curatorial affairs at MoMA PS1; Legacy Russell, government director and chief curator on the Kitchen; and Gonzalo Casals, a former commissioner of cultural affairs for New York Metropolis.
