On this version of our arts24 music present, Jennifer Ben Brahim talks to Nigerian singer-songwriter Keziah Jones as he releases his first document in over a decade: “Alive & Kicking”. The album is an autobiographical journey from Lagos to London to Paris; a musical résumé of his profession spanning greater than 30 years. The “blufunk” singer’s document options a few of his largest hits like “Lovely Emilie”, in addition to two authentic songs. It was recorded in Lagos at Femi Kuti’s studio, a symbolic determination for an artist who cites singer Kuti as one among his largest inspirations. Keziah shares with us how he was one of many final individuals to ever interview the Afrobeat legend. He additionally talks about his love affair with France and his latest debut artwork exhibition at Paris’s Eric Dupont gallery.
