On view now at Harper’s Chelsea 534 is Stacy Leigh‘s State of Disrepair, a collection of latest work that’s on view by November 8, 2025.
The factor about residing life is that there’s at all times one thing, some unfastened thread. Even when every part feels almost excellent, there’s nearly at all times one thing daunting, looming, hanging simply on the periphery. The subtleties in these work, or within the case of the present’s title work State of Disrepair, the evident fact, reveal the tiny cracks in life’s façade. That’s the intention of this present: a nod to the attitude that all of it can come wildly undone.
In fact, this isn’t restricted to destructive experiences. As a substitute, it means that there are at all times sides of life past our management. Some threaten to derail our desired trajectory, whereas others ripple outward with exterior penalties. That we as people handle to carry issues collectively and hold the veneer of management intact is nothing wanting outstanding. This physique of labor is supposed as a quiet homage to that resilience. —Stacy Leigh
