Identified for his vivid portrait images, Yannis Davy Guibinga is within the intersection of artwork and public areas. That is particularly apropos on the subject of celebrating tradition, heritage, and a way of belonging for “a brand new era of Africans who embrace the multiplicity of their heritage in a globalized world,” says an announcement for his new mission, Of Color.
Guibinga faucets into shade as a way of communication—a language that can be utilized for storytelling, conveying feelings, and embodying symbols of identification. Saturated hues and the interaction of sunshine and shadow mirror “pleasure, delight, and the complexity of Black expertise.”

By way of daring, large-scale portraits, Guibinga says that he goals “to discover how color carries emotion and identification, increasing my ongoing work on up to date African illustration.” Offered in collaboration with Los Angeles-based media firm StandardVision, Of Color contains a number of vibrant compositions by the Montréal-based artist that alternate throughout eight billboards all through November.
