A choice of photographs from an ongoing collection by Chinese language-American photographer Lia Elms and London-based author and artwork historian Spencer Hurley. The collaborative venture interrogates how inside areas mirror the identities of New York youth. Elms and Hurley argue that, following the COVID-19 pandemic, bedrooms grew to become “our all the pieces”—a single fixed amidst a quickly altering surroundings. As such, accumulating photographs of their pals, alongside their private areas and ephemeral supplies, is an try and seize one thing of the individuals themselves:
“As artists, our rooms are extensions of our identities‚ half studio, half library, half bed room. We share a deep connection to our private areas, and lots of the people we photographed are artists themselves who really feel the identical. By these portraits, we obtained to see a glimpse into their minds through the environments they create for themselves.”
