“Wind carries away destinies,” reads the transient synopsis for a brief movie titled “Jour de Vent,” or “Windy Day.” The sweeping animation was created in 2024 by a workforce of six graduates—Martin Chailloux, Ai Kim Crespin, Élise Golfouse, Chloé Lab, Hugo Taillez, Camille Truding—from École des Nouvelle Photographs college in Avignon, France.
A solid of characters—together with a businessman, a picnicking household, a younger couple, a bike owner, an previous man and his canine, and a guitarist—spend a seemingly common day on the park. When a strong gust of wind blows everybody’s time out of proportion, themes of change, acceptance, and connection emerge.
Very similar to the movie’s give up to the stream of life, the workforce embraced pure evolvement by means of the manufacturing course of itself. “Apparently sufficient, the story saved altering till the final day,” the graduates share in an interview with Animation Journal. “The ultimate shot was determined solely three days earlier than the tip.”
