LUCY (Cooper B. Useful) is a prolific New England musician. He is been releasing avant-pop music for over a decade but in addition contributes to the lo-fi rock duo Taxidermists with childhood pal Salvadore McNamara, the electro-pop mission Protected Thoughts with Boy Harsher’s Gus Muller, and the dance mission Membership Casualties with producer Ghost. (He even had a studio area in the identical constructing as Prewn’s Izzy Hagerup.) Yesterday, he introduced a brand new album CITIZEN’S ARREST, out Oct. 9, with the brand new single “COURTSIDE.” It seems like a toddler strolling up an enormous flight of inflatable stairs, slanted and playful and really wobbly.
“COURTSIDE” performs out like Yung Lean and Ty Segall made a document collectively. It is bizarrely hypnotic — a mixture of a bass-heavy hip-hop beat, whiny vocals with a little bit of echo, and a lopsided drumbeat. There’s additionally the sound of dishes breaking at one level. Test it out the video by Dominic Poropat under.
