Identified for her lush assemblages of flameworked glass, Amber Cowan reimagines a ubiquitous but fragile medium. Flowers, filigree, and colourful baubles cluster into dense compositions that invoke fairytale narratives and kooky nature scenes. Cowan sometimes works with industrial scraps, antiques, and different offcasts, which permits her to attract on merchandise and colorways which might be now not in manufacturing.
Presently leaning into cloche and coupe sculptures alongside her wall-based works, the Philadelphia-based artist is getting ready for a number of upcoming exhibitions, together with at San Francisco’s Museum of Craft and Design in September and Design Miami in December. Her work is on view now in The Ardour of Gathering at The Baker Museum in Naples, Florida, and you will discover extra on Instagram.
