This week I talks with Shelisa Klassen, writer of Imprinting Empire: Land and Settler Colonialism in Manitoba Newspapers. We speak about late nineteenth century Manitoba newspapers, the audiences each in Manitoba and the remainder of Canada, and the way the press framed colonial practices. We additionally focus on how newspapers match into different business tasks, what info was included and what was deliberately omitted, and the legacy of the period’s newspapers.
