Dari Bay’s two Shock Want singles — final 12 months’s “The Joke” and final month’s “We’re Gonna Be Okay” — each made our lists of the finest songs of the week. Now, the challenge of Burlington’s Zack James is again with a 3rd preview referred to as “Chevy,” and it is even higher.
“‘Chevy’ is me making an attempt and failing to dominate my environment,” James says. “I am eliminating the issues in my life which can be out of my management, which simply isolates me and makes my world smaller and smaller. By the tip of the track I’m trapped in a field with no door and no home windows. The music video tells an identical story, besides on the finish I escape into the daylight.”
“Chevy” is fuzzed-out, fluttery greatness, anchored by a staccato rhythm that is as groovy as it’s dizzying (complimentary). The video is self-directed with further filming by his Robber Robber bandmate Nina Cates. Watch under.
Shock Want is out 6/26 by way of Double Double Whammy.
