Depicting swimmers in classic bathing fits as they dive after large fish or diminutive figures wading via tulips twice as tall as they’re, the Brooklyn-based artist’s playful illustrations evoke folktales and goals, characterised by enigmatic narratives and decided motion.
Shimizu has beforehand taught at Quarantine, a singular residency off the coast of Menorca, Spain, the place artists are invited to disconnect from tech as a way to reconnect with the inventive course of and each other.
